WNY Fall Migration Table

To me, watching birds is like watching an airport with constant arrivals and departures. Likewise, WNY has seasonal arrivals and departures of our bird friends. Below is a chart of what to expect in the fall in Western New York.

NOTE: These dates are based largely on the Buffalo Ornithological Society's "Seasonal Checklist of the Birds: The Niagara Frontier Region", a 2002 compilation by a committee headed by David Suggs.

ALSO: "None of these dates is set in stone. As the weather has moderated over the past half century, arrival and departure dates are being extended and more and more birds, like robins and bluebirds, overwinter." Shown, with permission, from Gerry Rising.
