A Blue Jay on a Blustery Day

It was a very windy, snowy and overall just plain blustery kind of day here in Western New York.  We've been very lucky this winter, though - with mild temperatures and a record low of snowfall for the season. I'll take it!  But I've missed the activity at the feeders - and I've missed some very special "friends" at the feeders too: Carolina Wren, Song Sparrow, Brown Creeper, Common Redpoll, Pine Siskin, and the Pileated Woodpecker.  I've only had a few visits from the American Tree Sparrow, where last winter, he was a common sighting.

I thoroughly enjoyed a visit from a rather wind-blown Blue Jay today.  In spite of the wind and snow, this guy came back again and again for some treats.  He was a real trooper and seemed to have a special preference for the bark butter.
