A Bird in the Hand

I had to post another fun day of hand-feeding a Red-breasted Nuthatch. This species seems to be the most tame around here. It was a rather chilly day and the birds were very interested in the birdseed. One little nuthatch kept coming back again and again - so I thought I'd give hand-feeding another try. Sure enough, the little guy finally got brave enough and sat in my hand at least 5 times to pick his seed. And ohhhh, those little chickadees WANTED to be brave! They'd do dives and fly-bys again and again, but nobody took the chance. I finally got too cold to continue, but I really did enjoy the little nuthatch! I don't think I'll EVER get tired of a bird in the hand!
