Today's double-header started at Sinking Ponds in East Aurora, NY. I was hoping to catch a few more photos of the Belted Kingfisher again, but alas, no luck there. She was at the pond; I could hear her rattling call and followed her with my binoculars, but she never came close enough to photograph.
I DID get to add a new bird to my life list, though, an Eastern Kingbird. As it turned out, I had 3 sightings of this same bird at 3 different locations by the end of the day! I read that this bird is very common; why haven't I seen it before?!
Anyway, I got some new Great Blue Heron photos, especially given the fact that one landed in a tree very close to me! It was a spectacular view! Thanks, guy!
I also saw a Great Crested Flycatcher, which I haven't laid eyes on in a little over a year, so that was a treat. A Green Heron was foraging across the pond but stayed out of photo range. All in all, a great morning with some nice sightings!
