  Snow Buntings!

As I watched the lake at one of my favorite spots along Lake Erie, I was treated to the arrival of over 20 Snow Buntings.  When I first heard their "tew" calls, I scrambled about looking for them in the air - but I was delighted to find they had landed in the weeds very close to me.  Afraid to scare them off, I very slowly and cautiously grabbed some photos of these cute, little field birds while they busily foraged on the seed heads of the sparse plants sticking up through the sand on the beach.  What a treat!
