The first three photos show an adult Cooper's Hawk that has been proving to be a real terror around the yard. I caught it perched over one of our feeder stations the other day watching for the slightest movement of one of our cute, little feeder birds.
A couple of months ago, almost all of our juncos were wiped out by this guy! I know they have to eat, but why can't they develop a predilection for starlings!
A couple of days later, I found a Sharp-shinned Hawk reigning terror in the yard. I may have to pull my feeders down to dissuade the songbirds from coming around in order to protect them from these feeder terrors!
