This past week, I saw some great birds and FOYs (First of Year Birds), which is always so much fun. I'll just add the sightings to the captions in the photos below...
Eastern Bluebird - this beautiful male was near a female and they were checking out nest boxes at Birdsong in Orchard Park. I hope they make it work! There were three adult Black-crowned Night Herons in a tree at Woodlawn - all sitting near one another - very cool! Pine Siskins at my feeders These Pine Siskins, Purple Finches, and American Goldfinches were all VERY noisy! A beautiful male Purple Finch My FOY Gray Catbird at Sturgeon Point Ruby-crowned Kinglet It was nice to see the Purple Martins are back! It wasn't very cooperative, but this Palm Warbler was a sight for sore eyes! An Osprey looks for fish over Sturgeon Point A handsome male Yellow-rumped Warbler perched close to my car at the Hamburg Hawkwatch. Brown Creeper This gorgeous Black-throated Green Warbler was a FOY at Birdsong Another FOY, a Blue-headed Vireo, shows off his cool spectacles!
