  Warblers in Birdsong

Warbler season has finally started here in Western New York! This morning, a walk through Bird Song in Orchard Park, yielded my first Palm Warbler and Yellow Warbler of the year. The park was "full" of Yellow-rumped Warblers too. After such a long winter, it was wonderful to see these little "jewels" once again!

I also enjoyed watching a Swamp Sparrow sing his heart out. I didn't realize they were such songsters. He allowed me to take quite a few photos of him too - thanks, little guy!

I saw many Song Sparrows and White-crowned Sparrows - but oddly, not one Chipping Sparrow. No hawks appeared on this trip either. I did see several Northern Cardinals, Blue Jays, Tufted Titmouse, Red-winged Blackbirds (of course!), Downy Woodpeckers, American Goldfinches, and Ruby-crowned Kinglets.

Swamp Sparrow - a rare opportunity for me to listen, watch, and photograph this guy!

What a nice variety. I like the Tree Swallow. Sounds like you're enjoying your weekend and getting some exercise. The photos are lovely, as usual.
