  Summer's Hummers

I had a little photo fun out of my office window yesterday. Hummingbirds have been a little scarce up until this past week.  I'm not sure why, but I'm speculating that they've been busy nesting. But since they're appearing at the feeders once again, I got inspired to capture some photos while I worked.

A couple photos show some spider web looking material on one of the bird's wings.  I believe that's exactly what it is.  Did you know hummingbirds will use spider webs to form their US quarter-sized nest?  Amazing!

I didn't use a flash this time so the male's throat is dark and not the brilliant red the flash would have brought out.  Their wings are more blurred with motion too.  One of these days, I'll do it again in different lighting to get the angle for that gorgeous throat and maybe a little faster speed...  In the meantime, enjoy...

Nice, I have multiple ones zooming in front of me on my front porch. I have sat there patiently waiting to take a picture and always a blur. I know I know, faster speed......talking to an amateur. Just cool that you get such nice pictures. Thanks.
