It was a lousy day for a bird count but we members of the BOS (Buffalo Ornithological Society) hold our counts, rain or shine! And despite the cold, wet conditions, I came upon a nice variety of birds at Woodlawn Beach and in the town of Brant.
I'll just let the pictures tell the story...

A Peregrine Falcon was a nice surprise at Woodlawn. He must have just eaten as his belly is a bit bloody.

Hermit Thrush

I had a really nice view of a Swamp Sparrow as it poked around in a big wet area.

A migrating Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is always fun!

I saw several Brown Thrashers at Woodlawn

I found a couple of Vesper Sparrows in a vineyard in the town of Brant - a nice addition to the list!

Wilson's Snipe were still hanging around...

There were a few Lesser Black-backed Gulls in a huge flock of gulls in a farm field (front left).

This Glaucous Gull was a surprise in the big flock as well.

A few Horned Larks were fun finds

And back home, this Pileated Woodpecker was a welcome visitor!
